Our Story

Pioneers of the
Wood-Fired Grill

Al Forno — Italian for "from the oven" — has been Providence's most celebrated Italian restaurant since 1980. Perched on the scenic waterfront of South Water Street, we pioneered the wood-fired grilling techniques that transformed American Italian cuisine.

Our grilled flatbread sparked a culinary movement. Our handmade pasta carries the weight of tradition. Every dish is guided by fire, season, and an unwavering commitment to craft.
